7 LinkedIn Hook Formulas That Consistently Get 100K+ Impressions

After analyzing my top 50 posts, I noticed patterns in the hooks. Here are 7 formulas that consistently perform:

1. The Controversial Truth

"Unpopular opinion: [counter-intuitive statement]"
Example: "Unpopular opinion: Cold outreach is NOT dead. You're just doing it wrong."

2. The Mistake Confession

"I made a $X mistake so you don't have to"
Example: "I made a $50,000 mistake so you don't have to."

3. The Transformation

"[Time period] ago, I was [before state]. Today, [after state]."
Example: "3 years ago, I was rejected from 47 jobs. Today, I run a 7-figure recruiting firm."

4. The List Tease

"[Number] things I wish I knew about [topic] before [milestone]"

5. The Question

"Why do we [common behavior] when [better alternative] exists?"

6. The Pattern Interrupt

"Stop [common action]. Start [better action]."

7. The Behind-the-Scenes

"Here's exactly how I [achieved result]"

Pro tip: Use LinkedIn Buddy's generation feature with specific instructions like "use a controversial truth hook" and it incorporates these naturally.

Bookmarking this immediately! The "Mistake Confession" hook is so effective because it triggers curiosity AND shows vulnerability. People want to know what the mistake was AND feel good that someone successful makes mistakes too.

Just tested the "Transformation" hook with LinkedIn Buddy. Generated a post about my sales career journey. It performed 3x better than my average! These formulas really work.

The "Pattern Interrupt" is my go-to for B2B audiences. They're so used to generic advice that a direct "stop/start" statement actually makes them pause. Great list!

I'd add one more: The "Counterintuitive Stat"

"90% of [group] do X. Here's why the top 10% do Y instead."

Works really well for thought leadership content!

@Lisa - Love that addition! I'm going to test it this week. The stat hook adds instant credibility.
